Valerie and Joan
From Fear to Confidence – Valerie and Joan’s Digital Journey

When Valerie and Joan first walked into The Armory Foundation ATTAIN Lab in Washington Heights, NYC, they carried little more than a shared determination and a deep fear of computers. Both admitted they were “scared to death” of technology — but they also knew they were ready for that to change.

With courage and commitment, they dove into the lab’s digital literacy workshops. From PowerPoint to Word to Excel, Valerie and Joan not only completed each course but proudly earned Certificates of Completion for every workshop they attended.

Their most recent—and most impressive—achievement: Earning their IC3 Certification, a nationally recognized credential in digital literacy. It didn’t come easy. They studied hard, asked questions, practiced relentlessly, and supported each other every step of the way.

Today, they are no longer afraid of the computer. Instead, they are empowered by their skills and excited about the opportunities ahead. Valerie and Joan now look forward to new challenges, confident in their abilities and more digitally resilient than ever.
