Margarita Sanchez arrived in the United States a year ago from Cuba and knew the first step she needed to take was learning English.
Transportation limitations made it hard to go to an in-person class, so she enrolled in Rosetta Stone through the Syracuse ATTAIN Lab and completed all 20 levels.
Once she completed Rosetta Stone, she felt ready to move forward with career-specific training as her English had greatly improved. With the help of ATTAIN, she determined that she would like to pursue a career in administration in the medical field.
She applied for the SUNY EOC Medical Billing & Coding program and was referred to ATTAIN to complete the Pre-Medical Billing program to prepare her with the basic skills needed to be successful in the class. As part of that program, she completed training in medical terminology, basic accounting, Microsoft Office, and digital literacy.
“Honestly,” says Margarita, “the Medical Billing course lasted four months and was very intense, but the preparation with ATTAIN built a strong foundation for me, without which I would not have been able to complete the medical billing course.”
Margarita has now passed her Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist Exam and will work with ATTAIN to start sourcing employment opportunities and preparing for interviews!
